Jack Blackmer – SUS 705 Guest Lecture

Jack Blackmer is the retired Senior Manager for Environment, Health and Safety at Novozymes, US.  Novozymes is a global biotechnology company and a leader in sustainable solutions for the agricultural biological industry. Their focus is on the research, development and production of industrial enzymes, microorganisms, and biopharmaceutical ingredients. One of their many initiatives is on the use of enzymes to produce cellulosic ethanol. Sustainability is a major theme of the company’s web site and core business values.
Jack now works with the Triangle Land Conservancy (see attached bio), and has graciously agreed to  speak to the class on October 30 about his experiences in promoting sustainability from within a major corporation.  He has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Michigan State University.
