“Science and Technology Drivers in Batteries for Renewables Energy & Mobility Applications” | CEES Colloquium Series Partner Event
October 24 * 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
On Wednesday, October 24 Dr. Ilias Belharouak, Distinguished Scientist and Group Leader at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, will deliver his lecture “Science and Technology Drivers in Batteries for Renewables Energy & Mobility Applications.” The lecture will begin at 4:00 pm in the George P. Williams, Jr. Lecture Hall (Olin 101). The growing use of renewable energies and electric vehicles points to an increased need for new energy storage solutions. The aim of this seminar is to discuss the potential of batteries to stabilize the grid while storing energy, understand various types of batteries used to store energy and address battery life expectancy, and how it can be maintained for maximum efficiency.
This colloquium is co-sponored by the Physics Department and Chemistry Department. There will be a reception for all attendees in the Olin lobby at 3:30 pm preceding the lecture.
