Battery Materials

CEES researchers are collaborating with various partners to develop technology that holds the potential to increase battery performance and safety. The new lithium-ion battery solid electrolyte material (Li2PO2N) could significantly improve performance in the miniature rechargeable batteries used in many everyday electronic devices.

This technology has the potential to make batteries, such as those used in automotive, aircraft, and computers, safer by replacing flammable liquid electrolyte materials. 

Faculty and researchers involved with this project include Wake Forest Professor Dr. Abdessadek Lachgar and CEES postdoc Dr. Keerthi Senevirathne, in collaboration with Wake Forest Professors Dr. Natalie A. Holzwarth, Dr. Cynthia S. Day and Bucknell University Professor Dr. Michael Gross.
